Warnings for dispensing Suboxone drugs
To write a prescription for a Suboxone drug, the doctor must have a special DEA#. This new DEA# is in addition to their existing one, not replacing it. QuickSCRIP is now able to warn you when the doctor file is not marked as having a Suboxone DEA#. For this to work, three things must happen. They are:

  1. The Drug must be marked
    1. IF the drug has Suboxone or Subutex in the name, you don't have to do anything else to this drug.

    2. To mark a drug as a Suboxone Drug, go to line 35 and look for the option Suboxone or Subutex Drug

  2. The Doctor must be marked
    1. Pull up the Doctor in Doctor File Maintenance

    2. Press the F11 key to go to notes

    3. Add /SUBOX=Xxxxxxxxx setting the x's to the doctor's Suboxone DEA#

  3. The Warning options must be set
    1. Go to your Pharmacy Main Menu

    2. Choose 3. Utilities

    3. Choose 3. Business/Control File Maint.

    4. Choose 4. Additional Rx Custom Screen #1

    5. Choose 5. Warn Disp Suboxone?

    6. Set this to one of these options:
      • Y - QuickSCRIP will check to make sure the doctor is marked for these drugs.
      • O - Same as Y option but will make you type OK to go past the warning.
      • S - Same as Y but will not allow the scrip to be filled until the doctor is marked.
      • N - QuickSCRIP will not check for doctor to be marked for these scrips.
