Basis of Days Supply
We have had one state (Vermont) request that the pharmacy transmit the Basis of Days Supply on their controlled substance report. Basically they want to know how you calculated the days supply. As of right now we are not aware of other states wanting this, but we wanted you to be aware that this feature is already in place.

By Default we send a 1 which means "explicit directions". This is for those scrips that are blatantly obvious such as "Take one tablet every day" for a dispense quantity of 30.

Other options are:

2 - Pharmacist Estimate. This is mainly for PRN scrips. If the sigs contain "AS NEEDED" or "AS DIRECTED" or "/RPHDAY" then QuickSCRIP will send a 2.

3 - as directed by doctor. If the prescription specifically states how many days supply it is, put "/DOCDAY" in the sigs and we will transmit a 3.

We will let you know as we find out which states are planning on implementing this.
